Official Statement Regarding Customs Detention of Derette Loaders in the United States
In response to recent online reports about Derette loaders being inspected by U.S. Customs, our company hereby releases this official statement to clarify the full facts of the incident.
The detained shipment was a full container of loaders purchased by one of our clients. During cooperation, the shipping quotation provided by our company failed to meet the client’s cost budget. Meanwhile, we clearly warned the client in advance that U.S. Customs had implemented stringent inspection policies at that time. We recommended conducting compliant and reasonable value declarations in full accordance with U.S. import clearance rules to avoid customs risks. However, the client declined our professional advice and insisted on appointing an independent third-party freight forwarder in China to handle the shipment.
The root cause of the container being inspected and detained by U.S. Customs is that the third-party forwarder hired by the client falsely declared the mechanical loaders as textiles such as towels to evade tariffs. This irregular declaration act was entirely the fault of the external freight forwarder and bears no relation to our company Derette.
We solemnly state that Derette adheres to a customer-centric business philosophy and strictly complies with import and export customs regulations worldwide. We keep close track of the constantly updated policies for machinery imports issued by U.S. Customs. For all our loader export shipments, we conduct truthful, compliant and standard declarations for both product descriptions and cargo values. We have never engaged in false or incorrect declarations or any other non-compliant clearance practices. All online rumors claiming our illegal declarations led to cargo detention are completely untrue.
The entire Derette team hereby makes a solemn commitment: if any cargo is inspected, detained or returned at U.S. ports due to declaration errors, irregular operations or any other liabilities attributable to Derette, we will take full responsibility and compensate the client for all losses incurred. We recommend all clients arrange shipments directly through Derette’s sales team instead of entrusting transportation to third-party agents. If you purchase loaders from Derette and book door-to-door delivery arranged by our company, Derette will issue a full refund should the goods be detained or returned by customs.
Going forward, we will continuously improve product quality and upgrade our service system to deliver more professional, compliant and reliable export trade services to global clients. We sincerely appreciate the understanding, trust and support from all partners and customers. Lastly, if anyone still doubts the authenticity of this incident, we can invite the involved client to provide further clarification.
Thank you.
